THE  INTERCHANGEABLE  MUZZLE  SYSTEM  (I.M.S)

The Interchangeable Muzzle System is produced so that the user can have a barrel of 16.25” Overall Length and still be able to switch various muzzle devices (from flash suppressor to muzzle brake) as desired.  The various parts of the I.M.S. are made of 4140 steel that’s been heat-treated to 40   Rockwell, with a black oxide finish (the exception to this is the muzzle brake attachment (Part No. TI-762), which is made of Grade 5 titanium, with a black titanium hardcoat finish).

THIS UNIT IS DESIGNED TO BE INSTALLED ON A RIFLE WITH 5/8-24 THREADS AT THE MUZZLE.

IMPORTANT NOTE #1:  In light of the close tolerances required and the pressures involved (especially with a sound suppressor), Krebs Custom STRONGLY states that any customer intending to mount a sound suppressor on our IMS “base” unit MUST have this “base” unit installed by a company that can insure proper mounting and concentricity with the bore of their rifle.

IMPORTANT NOTE #2:  DO NOT USE CRUSH WASHERS OR SHIMS WITH OUR  IMS SYSTEM IF YOU PLAN TO USE A SUPPRESSOR ON YOUR RIFLE.  

IMPORTANT NOTE #3:  The Krebs Custom I.M.S. system (and its accessories) MUST NOT be used on any firearms with a calibre greater than 9mm (.355).  Installing this System on a firearm using a bullet that has a diameter greater than 9mm (.355) may result in damage to the firearm, injury to the shooter, or both.

 THE IMS SYSTEM "BASE" UNIT MUST BE INSTALLED BY A GUNSMITH.

Our open 4-prong 5/8-24  “base” muzzle attachment is a very effective flash suppressor. The use of factory ammunition will produce, at best, only a few sparks at the muzzle.  This “base” unit can also act as a harmonic dampener when installed on a 14.5” barrel. The total weight of this unit is 4.2 oz., and the overall length of the unit is 2.9”, which means it will extend only 1.95” from the muzzle when installed.

The closed-end “birdcage” compensator suppresses flash enough for effective low-light shooting, and holds the front of the rifle down.  The total weight of this unit is 1.7 oz., and its overall length of 2.46” means it will add only another .225” to the “base” unit from the muzzle when installed.
