The gas regulator closes the gas bypass channel, acting on the automatics, thereby reducing the recoil and preventing the barrel from moving off the aiming line, and also reducing the time between shots.

The gas regulator replaces  the standard plug, and is almost the same size. Adjustment is made by rotating the inner screw. Every position is noticeable with a click.
