Taylor Freelance Rock Island "Fattie" SpeedWell - Tall

Buy this magwell if your Rock Island Wide-Body 1911 came from the factory WITHOUT a magwell.

IMPORTANT: Rock Island guns come in "short" and "long" frame sizes. "Long" frames are the standard models that shipped without a magwell. "Short" frames are cut at the factory to make room for a magwell and extended basepad. 

This "tall" magwell works with the standard LONG frame, no frame-cutting required!

THE TRADE-OFF: Because we haven't actually shortened the frame, you will need to use longer magazine tubes. We suggest buying Remington RP mags (cheap!) equipped with TF extensions. (MBX and/or modified STI magazines also work great.) 

You will need to shorten your existing "long" grips to fit the magwell. However, if you don't want to trim the grips, you can buy a new set of factory-built "short" grips from RIA.
